Questions

How is the risk score calculated?

The Travel Risk Score (0 to 100) is a weighted composite of six factors. ACLED conflict events carry 35%, official travel advisories 20%, GDELT news sentiment 15%, terrorism risk from the GTD 15%, humanitarian crisis alerts 10% and airspace status 5%. Events decay over a 30-day rolling window, and the full methodology is published.

What data sources do you use?

Eight authoritative feeds. The CIA World Factbook for country profiles, ACLED for armed conflict events, GDELT for global news monitoring, US State Department advisories, UK FCDO travel advice, ReliefWeb and OCHA for humanitarian crises, the Global Terrorism Database and FAA plus EUROCONTROL NOTAMs for airspace.

How is this different from State Department advisories?

Advisories rate a whole country with a single 1 to 4 level. GroundTruth scores at sub-national resolution, so you can see that Beirut sits at moderate risk while southern Lebanon is critical. We also fuse eight sources instead of relying on one government's view.

Who is GroundTruth designed for?

Business travelers who need pre-trip risk assessments, corporate travel managers responsible for duty-of-care, solo and adventure travelers heading off the beaten path, journalists and NGO workers deploying near conflict zones and travel agencies advising clients.

Is there a free tier?

Yes. Free accounts get 3 country dossier views per month and the global conflict map. Pro at $19 per month adds unlimited dossiers, route analysis and the daily intel brief. Enterprise plans with API access, team dashboards and compliance reporting are quoted per team.
